In view of possible hostilities with the Ashantees her Majesty's corvette Champion, 14 guns, has been ordered to the Gold Coast, where she will organise a naval brigade for service in Ashantee.

A Ministerial crisis has occurred here and a new cabinet is being formed by Senor Sagasta. Marshal Camposo will take the portfolio of Minister of War.
Capetown, February 8
News has been received from Natal that the Boers hare stopped the mail between Sir George Colley's camp at Langsac and head quartes at Newcastle. AH the reinforcements from England and India have now arrived at Durban, Natal, and the troops will proceed without delay to the front.
London, February 7
A disastrous fire has broken out in a colliery at Tunstall, Staffordshire. 20 colliers are entombed, with but little hope of rescuing them entertained.
J. W. Walsli, a Land Leaguer, and one of the traverses in the recent prosecution at Dublin^has started for Australia, It is now announced that it is the intention of Government that the Irish Land Bill should, if possible, become law before Easter.
