This day,
The race horse Volunteer was scratched at 10.30 this morrliug for all engagements at the forthcoming race meeting.
W. E. Welsh, an old settler at Taita, committed suicide near his brother's residence at Apake, on Thursday, by cutting his throat, it is supposed to be the result of drink. The body was found yesterday.
