This day,
Disastrous Fire. A fire broke out at Kaiapoi yesterday morning, when the following properties were destroyed:—Mr Hornby's house and shop, Mr-S. Johnston—one empty house, and Mr J. Ayer's house (all of which were- the property of Mr, G. P. Wilson), Mr N. Allen's house and shop, and Mr Isaac Wilson's house and outbuilding. Insurance:—Hornby's building, £200, in the South British; loss, £400 over insurance. Mr G. P. Wilson, £300 in the South British and £200 in the Northern; loss, £350 over insurance. Mr Johnston,uninsured; loss,£loo. Mr Ayers, £50 in the South British and £70 in tne National. Mr Allen, £500 in the South British; loss, £1500 over insurance. Mr I. Wilson, £400 on building and £200 on the furniture in the New Zealand ; loss, £200 over insurance.
