WARDEN'S COURT.—Yesterday.

(Before H. Kenrick, Esq., Warden.)

M. Morewa r. J. Ricketts.-—This was an action brought by the parties in a claim against a co-partner, who has failed to work his share. The share was awarded to the plaintiffs, and defendant ordered to pay costs, amounting to 11s.

M. Sfcubbings r. J. G, Sherrington.— Tliis case—one of encroachment on the Streak of Luck Claim—was struck out, neither party appearing. J. Murdock 7. Crompton.— A plaint fop the Lone Star No. 2 Claim was struck out, neither, party appearing. F. Stubbing v. E. Rave.—Encroachment in Homestead Claim. There was no appearance of either party. J. C. Sherrington v. Gr. Morton, This was a claim for the forfeiture of the Duke of Cambridge holding on the ground of non-working. It appears that only fire' men of the fourteen had abandoned the ground, and His made an order awarding the claim to the plaintiff and r the nine defendants who appeared, order- - ing the absentees — Muigrore, Cock,-— Hicks, Mallett and Gidleigh—to pay tKeT costs. #2-, •: J. Cook r. Gruildingand party.—There * being no appearance of either party, the' case was struck out; nor was there in the case J. Sims v. same, and J. C- Sherrington T. John Lamb and others. . - D. Me Williams v. S. Wilson^This was an application for forfeiture of defend- ' ; ant's share in Our Boys' Claim on ihia plea of non- working. The share was"' forfeited, and the defendant ordered topay costs. . ."'"".' Licensed Holdings,-—Applications for licensed holdings were granted on behalf of the following companies and claims :— United, Waikato, Crown (claim), Morning Star, Te.Aroha, Wo. 2 South. Applications for Tunnels.—Applications for tunnels in the Hot S.prings Reserve were received from the All Nations and Don, and adjourned. ' -' Court adjourned. v

THE MINES. Morning Star.—The mine 'was visited by several managers of other mines yesterday, who expressed themselves highly pleased with the prospects. The long-standiug dispute re the United claim has at last been amicably settled, and by reference to our report of the proceedings at the Warden's Court,' it will be seen that a license has been issued. . The two actions re the Clunes claim have been amicably settled, in come* quence of a lease being applid for. Lucky Hit.—The shareholders Hicks and party are doing a lot of surface work of no permanent value. The only feasible method of working the promising looking lode uncovered in their ground is through the Prince of Wales; indeed, the shareholders of the latter claim are at present driving a tunnel not far from the boundary which could be utilised by both the claims. It is a pity that so much time and work should be thrown away when half the number of men at present employed # could" be iridie beneficially employed in the manner we" have indicated. <T/ •# The following notice of pegging but has been lodged :— Goldseeker — Eight men'sr. 'ground bounded north by Oxnahu creek..:' Teneia and party. ■■,•'>• '. ' ',',

GENERAL. We learn on good authority that the" Warden contemplates recommending the Government to open a portion of the Hot Springs Reserve for goldmining purpose* either by^-throwing the portion into the" Goldfield or by making special provision for the conduct of mining operations thereon. The portion it is proposed to treat in this manner is about nine acres of the upper part of the reserve. Already three applications have been received in connection with the reserve —two for the. right to make tunnels for the convenience of adjoining claims, and one for a, claim within its boundaries. It is probable that the two former will be granted, bat as due notice must be given when the ground is available for pegging out, no applications made now will give a prior right to any portion of the ground.
