NEW NORTH DEVON.
The manager reports for the week as follows :—7O feet level: The reef in the face is if anything increasing in size, and still maintains the same appearance, showing a little gold when broken down. Stoping is still being .carried on with similar results to last report. The stope has now been carried to a distance of 20 feet on each end of the winze, from where, with the drive, I have precured all the dirt sent to the battery up to this date. The winze 30 feet west of main winze from Whau level is down a distance of
eight feet, and the stone is still showing gold similar to what I have got from the ' drive in this level. Battery : The general dirt is showing up for a payable return, as from the commencement of the present crushing it has been giving an average of 2oz to the load, as near as I can judiie. I purpose clearing up and retorting on Monday, next, the 31st inst. Owing to the accident in the Whau level, operations in the 70 feet level have had to be stopped, as the earth has stopped the air from coming into these workings, and it is still too light to start work. —J. Wucox.
