AUSTRALIAN.
Sydney, Wednesday.
THE, CONFERENCE.
The Intercolonial Conference met again to-day. The question of securing uniformity in regulations for the admission of barristers in the various colonies^was considered, but no decision was arrived at. A committee was appointed to enquire into the recent massacres in the South Sea Islands, and also to investigate the powers possessed by the High Commissioner for the Western Pacific, with the view, if necessary, of demoralising the Home Government on the subject. A resolution was adopted in favour of the construction of railways to connect the various capitals in Australia, and it was further decided to pursue identical action in regard to legislative measures for regulation of Chinese immigration.
