Major Murray, in a few well-chosen words, presented Mr McCado' with a handsome pursa containing 60 sovereigns, and also letters of - recommendation from his lodge, Sir Walter Scott. Mr McGade returned thanks far the kind present to him, and for the expression ofsympathy shown by so many friends. He hoped to be back some day when he might have other opportunities to show his friends how much he appreciated their kindness. Mr McCade has been living in the province since 1862, for in that year in Coromandel he opened up the first payable lode known as Wo. 13 Driving Creek, now in the Kapanga Company's mine.
