The Maori prisoners on Eipa Island have been removed to Lyttelton gaol, the object being to subject them to a more rigid restriction than they have experienced on tbe island.

A heavy south-west gale, accompanied with a hailstorm, passed over the northern district. A house was partially blown down, and the cropß have .suffered injury.

At the first annual meeting of the Kaiapoi Woollen Company since the enlargement of the premises, it was proposed to pay a dividend of 5 per cent, for the half year.
