Coromandel Mining News.
Tokatea. —The mine manager reports for the week ending the 14th inst: —The No. 7 level has been extended 20ft since last measurement, making 45ft. driven by
the companies, 30ft of which is inside the
Bismarck ground. The country continues of the usual character, hard to bore, but fair shooting ground, with a little water making on the southern side of the drive. Thode, tributer, applies for an extension of ground to work on tribute. X: Royai. Oak. —The contractors having surrendered the contract for driving the low level on No. 2 reef,..the company has employed labour to put it forward the required distance. The New Golden Pah are making preparations for starting the pumping machinery, and resuming mining operations at an early date.
Thk Union Beach are prospecting and working in old ground which has been already pretty well tried. It is about time they were discovering some new scheme for future development, otherwise, it is just possible that - operations in this part of the district will cease. There is room here for improvement, and also a good field for directors to show their experience and ability to conduct the affairs of a splendid .mining company, with prospects equal to any other part of Held.
A few days ago a claim called the Just In Time crushed ten tons for lOOozs. of ' gold, which is lOozs to the ton. This claim is on the boundary of the Union Beach- property, and why not make an attempt to extend the operations of the Union Beach Company in this direction ? The benefits to the Company from such works if undertaken with-a will could not be questioned, and while driving in a new country there is no knowing what other discoveries of an equally important nature might be discovered. The Bismarck Company have driven 30 feat into their claim, and are continuing the drive through hard rock by drilling machinery. The soft channel carrying the reb*6&ay be cut any day, when good results'may bo. expected. A few feet further driving will drain the water from the oid workings, below the No. 6 or Tan level.—Star. -
