NEW WHAU.

The manager, after driving nearly 60 feet upon the westward drive on the hanging wall leader, on Saturday broke through to an old drive of the Black Angel claim on the main reef, on the hanging wall of which was . a small leader left intact, which he is breaking down, as the quartz shows gold, but the work has been temporarily stopped /in consequence of the bad ventilation. The leader has not altered in appearance, and shows gold occasionally. It has lately been disturbed by an old watercourse, but it has now greatly, improved, being about one foot in thickness, and containing excellent mineral. The manager has commenced to sink a winze about 20 feet west of the crosscut, and it is now down about eight feet from the floor of the level.
