THE MINES.

Te Aroha G.M.Co.—The sinking of the. winze was resumed yesterday morning, and we are glad to hear that the country has very much improved, a fine solid sandstone giving place to the hitherto broken ground. The leader in the bottom was fire inches in thickness, and some stones showing gold were obtained.

Bonanza.—A pound or two of golden stone was obtained from the big reef in this mine yesterday.

Morning Star.—During Mr McLaren's visit to'this > mine yesterday morning a nice looking stone, with gold plainly visible, was taken from the face.

Mr Charles Jenkins, for a long time manager of the Luck's All mine at the Thames, took charge of the Morning Star yesterday in place of Mr Wood, who had resigned. Work is now in full swing.

It is stated that a share in the Don claim was sold the other day for £70. A half share was sold on Saturday night for £30.

Homeward Bound.—The reef in this mine varies from five feet to two feet in thickness, and dish prospects continue as good as ever. The shareholders are in high spirits.
