MOANATAIARI.

The appearance of the lode in the Point Eussell section of this mine is very promising. A small leader on the hangingwall has produced 121bs of. picked stone during the last few days. The Mine Manager's report for the week is as follows :—"Point Eussell Section: In driving creek level east we have a compact reef 2J feet thick, which contains a large quantity of antimony, and looks well for gold.—On the hangingwall side there is a leader two inches thick, which has yielded 121bs of picked stone during the last few shifts. In another fortnight the drive will be sufficiently advanced to start stoping here, in order to send a larger quantiiy of stuff to the battery. Tunnel level: The Nonpareil workings have been suspended, in order to clean out and repair the Central Italy adit level, to take off' the water, and ascertain whether the shaft has J'allen in before starting to clean it out from below. About a fortnight will complete this work home to the shaft. Morning Star section : A new wiuze has been started below the tunnel upon the reef, which from here downwards is intact. The quartz obtained from the scopes above is of low grade. 150 feet level: In driving east from the south crosscut, No. 2 reef has a better appearance, being a compact lode, 2£ feet thick, aDd heavily. charged with iron pyrites. It contains ratLer more gold than formerly, but is not yet payable. The slof js on branches of No. 3 reef are now pretty welbexhausted, these leaders being very small. The full force of the battery is now employed on our own stuff, which is showing a. little improvement upon last return; During the holidays the machinery has been overhauled, and is now in good order.—Rojbeex Cojcee."
