NEW GOLDEN CROWN.
Mr Dunlop reports : —Battery level: Stoping No. 2 leader has been carried up close to Brace level, the leader averaging about 12 inches. The quartz, however, is of a very low grade. On No. 1 leader the gtopes are opened up at a distance of 90 • feet to the south-east of the cross-cut, which brings the stopes up to the slide. Have again started the drive along the course of the reef on the north side of the cross cut. The reef here was much disturbed and split up, but sinco starting again it has become more defined, and ' is now about 15 inches thick, ond during the last few days has shown a little gold. In the stopes the leader averages a foot thick, with good payable quartz -coming to band. At the same level, a cross-cut has been cleaned out and 105 feet repaired. Intend to start, a drive to intersect Herival's leader, which will take about 40 feet of driving <o where the leader may be expected within a week.— Intermediate Level : There ia little or no change to report in this part of the mine. —100 Feet Level: a drive is being put in on the course of a small leader cut in the : western cross-cut. The ground is hard, but is likely to pay well, and it shows gold freely. Men have been cleaning and repairing a winze between the 100 feet level and battery levels. When finished I purpose making preparations for opening up a large block of this reef, which pro- • raises to be very remunerave. —Brace level Service; The contractors are making good. progress here.—Battery : The bat- ; tery has been undergoing repairs, overhauling stampers, alteration to berdans, ' and repairs to dies.
