Considerable indignation has been shown.here at the statements made <in Thursday's Advertiser that Mr Whitaker, junr., pegged out 26 allotments upon the advice of the Warden. The cause of the pegging out was the probability of the bridge crossing the river at the newly laid out line of road. ' The news came from Waikato, and there is no foundation for the remarks made in the Advertiser— in fact, the remarks are unkind, mendacious, and quite uncalled for. It is said here that the Advertiser's, special is not; to blame ; that the paragraph referred*to was concocted at the Thames by Borne .persons inclined to injure Mr Kenrick. A public meeting is to be held this evening for the purpose of taking stepiAo erect a crushing battery.
