A meeting of the general committee of the Glab was held last night, Mr D. 8,. Gellion in the Chair.
The minutes of the previous meetings of committee were read by the Secretary, Mr Lawless, and also minutes of the meeting of the stewards. In the latter minutes reference was made to the matter jof the Hurdle Kace, in which it was , alleged that the jockey of Venus pulled ' the horse and allowed Akeake to win. Me \, Lennard, the owner of the horse, attributed r. the loss or the race to an error of judg.' ment on the part of the rider. s ■' ._ Sereral members spoke ugon the ques- '' ' tion,nu«Uefie considered that, in justice to the public whose money was upon the race, and for tho credit of the Club, some action should be taken upon the rm#pr. After considerable discussion^ during^ which a reference was made to the conduct of the same'owner" intscratching hi* horse only a few minutes before the commencement of a race, the subject dropped.
