NAPIER.
This day A fire was discovered .in Dennett's Albion Hotel early yesterday morning, by which one wing was completely gutted. One lodger was so drank, that ho wai unable to help himself,- and had to be lowered by ropes. The body of another, a shepherd named Smiley, was afterwards found in a bedroom evidently smothered, and not much burned. There was no knob on the handle of the door inside, so that he could not escape. The Insurances are: £500 in the Standard, £800 in the New Zealand, and £500 in the Union.
