Christmas Day.

To-morrow, being Christmas Day, the employes of the various establishments on the Thames will observe it as a day of recreation, and relief from the toilsome work they are engaged in. Numerous parties have been arranged for passing the day in a manner alike in accordance with religious and social commemoration. The river will; be alive with boating parties, while the gardens at Parawai and Tararu will no doubt be well patronised. On Monday and Tuesday the races will take place on the Parawai race course, and there is little fear of their being other than well attended.- The arrangements with regard to the several places of worship for services on Christmas Day are as follows :— ST. GEORGE'S CHURCH. Services will be held in the above church to-morrow, morning and evening. The musical portion of the service, in addition to the ordinary music for the day, will consist of the recitative and chorus from the •' Messiah," " Behold, I bring you glad tidings." The "Hallelujah" chorus will be sung in the evening. ST. FRANCIS", SHORTLAND. High' Mass will be celebrated in the above church to-morrow at 11 a.m., and vespers will be held at 7 p.m. Ttuimusic ! in the morning will be the " Kyrie , eleison" from Mozart* 12th, the | "Gloria," "Credo," " Sanctus," and " Benedictus " from Haydn's First Mass (in B flat), and the " Agaus Dei" from Farmer's well known Mass. The service commences with the recitative "Behold I bring you glad tidings," and the chorus "Glory to God" from the Messiah- The offertory piece is the well-known hymn, "Adeste Fideles," and the " Hallelujah": will conclude the service. In the evening a "Salutaris" will be sung by Mrs Lawless, and the "Tantum" will be entrusted to the care of Mr E. Haydon.
