Kauaeranga Girls' Sohool.
| The prizes in connection with the above I school were distributed this afternoon by : Mrs Ehrenfried. The room was prettily decorated, and a good number of people j were present. The roll shows, a slight ■ increase on the number of pupils last year, tbere being 320 girls on the list, and the arerage attendance is 260. The children have remarkably improved under the excellent teaching of Miss F. Haseldean, assisted by three assistant teachers and. four pupil teachers. The prize given by the Rev. S. J. Neill for " Laws of Health " was given to Ada Yon Bernewitz. The Mayor's prize for map drawing has not been decided.
Major Murray'f prizes for arithmetic were awarded to A. Yon Bernewits, C. Murrißh, K- Gilleapie, M. Lamb, and £. Fisher. Major Murray's prices for writing were awarded to £. Carson, and A. Driver.
Mr G. M, Brassey's prizeß for good conduct and deportment were awarded to £. Skudder, £. Babe, and Ida Atkimon respectively. Mr Fisher's special prize for writing was given to A.
