High School Scholarships Examination.
The examination for the two scholarships, open to girls under" 13 years of age, was concluded at the High School yesterday, and through the courtesy of Mr Adams we now publish the result of same. As we said on Monday 24, children competed, and the subjects they were examined in were dictation, writing, reading, English grammar, geography, history and arithmetic.
Emilia Brown, at present attending the Kauaeraoga Girls' School was fortunate enough to head the list with 190 marks, while the next was Agnes Browning from Puriri School with 163. The next two competitors, Charlotte West and Lucie Watkin, were almost equal, having no less than 162 and 161 marks each respectively. Emilia Brown is therefore entitled to 2f years, and Agnes Browning to one year's free tuition at the High School.
The competitors next on the list were F. Fletcher 153, H. Nicholas 145, M. Courts 139, J. Burns 138, J. Molntyre 136, L. May 130, J. Gillan 128.
