Gold Mining Districts Act 1873.

We publish the following for the information of those who are at present engaged in the prospecting for gold in the Te Aroha ranges, and believe that ail bona fide discoverer* of gold in a quartz reef and not the original prospectors only wUI be entitled to protection for their claims :—

Paot XIII. MINING OUTSIDE DISTRICTS. It shall be lawful for the Governor te grant to any iona fide discoverer of gold on Crown land, not being within any Gold Field or Gold Mining District a lease of tbeeeid land or some part thereof for gold saining purposes, subject to the following terms an 3 conditions :— (1.) Every suoh lease shall comprise ac much • land as shall be necessary in the opinion of the Governor for the efficient mining for gold thereon, having regard to the description of mining proposed to be earned on, but not exceeding doable the quantity whioh might be held as a claim oi licensed holding respectively in the newest Gold Mining District ooostttoted under this Act (2.) This ta rn to be be gnatodmead.least shall be any number of years, at the option of this lessee, not exceeding twenty-one. ' (3.) The rent to be reserved shall be one potrad per acre. (4.)
