The Great Rowing Match.
Easy Victory of the Canadian. London, November 15. Hanlon won the race with Triekett easily. , Lateb.
[ The greatest interest was taken in the race for the championship to-day. The attendance of the public, was enormous, the crowds lining the banks of the river I along the course. The betting at the start was. greatly in favor of Hanlon, who was in splendid form. The two men went off with a good start, and in smooth water, Hanlon commencing with 23 and Tricket with 34 strokes a minute. They kept together for half a mile, pulling evenly, but afterwards Hanlon took the lead, and played with Triekett during the last three miles, winning rather easily, fully two lengths ahead. Time of race was 26mins 12secs. More Troubles at the Gape. Latest intelligence from the Cape states that the rebellion in Basutoland is daily increasing, and the position of the Cape Rifles is becoming more orilical. In consequence of the necessity for reinforce* ments 6000 burghers are being called out, and will proceed without delay to the scene of hostilities. St. Pstbhsbubg, November IS. Owing to the pressure brought to bear by the Government, a large number of bakers in this city have lowered their prices, and the prevailing distress has been partly relieved.! Some, November 15.
