TE AROHA.

[P*e Pigeon Express.]

This day, 7.30 a.m.

A large number of persons from Hamilton and Cambridge visited the Prospectors' Claim yesterday (Sunday), and were all astonished and delighted at the show of gold in the latest find. A rush is expected to set in from the Waikato, as I hear that our neighbors are thoroughly smitten with the gold fev«r. One Cambridge gentlemen in*

formed me last night that it knocks pleuro-pnuemonia kite high, and is 'far more contagions. There is a great deal of grumbling amongst the miners at the Government not opening the field at once, and rumor hath it that a hitch has occurred, and that the date of opening is at present altogether uncertain.

There was some little interest occasioned in our community on Saturday through Messrs Bullock and Allen turning out their first batch of bread. It was really excellent, and proved quite a treat. There are two townships springing up, one on the flat, near Mr O'Halloran's hotel, and the .other on the wooded rising ground between the Hot Springs and the now celebrated " burnt spur." The embryo shops and stores are chiefly situated in the flat township, called Morgan town, and Prater ville on the hill* side will be our Block 27. I have every confidence in the future, of our fine district, and predict that the township allotments will be much sought after. I have heard many people say, "This is the site of the largest inland town in New Zealand," and from the manifold advantages of its position, I believe them to be true prophets.
