Intelligence has been received that a storm of a most severe character passed over Lake Michigan, and caused a great loss of life and shipping. Nine vessels became total wrecks, and a number of others suffered severely, while t over a hundred persons hate perished.. ' Capetown, October 21.
Telegrams have been received announcing that the force under Colonel Clarke, whioh was sent to the relief of the Cape Bifles at Mafeting, has arrived there, and alterfsevere fighting with Basoutos, who had infested the place a junction of the two forces was effected.
