The Eastern Question.
It is expected that vessels of various fleets forming the combined squadron at Cattaro, will remain there until the surrender of Dulcigno to the Montenegrins has been effected, and that they will then disperse. No active steps have yet been taken by the Forte tp make the cession, but some early action is looked for.
The Albanians have resolved to resist the surrender of Dulcigno to the last extremity.
The question of the settlement of the Turko-Greek 'frontier line is now being generally discussed. The leading English and Continental papers deprecate the pressing of the Forte to carry out the decisions of the Berlin Conference in their entirety, and recommend that the Powers should accept the recent proposal of the Sultan to cede to Greece the territory south of Larissa and harnia, but not those towns themselves.

The total reserve of notes and bullion in the Bank of England amounts to £15,250,000.
The Invercargill loan of £200,000 at 6 per cent, has been issned. Tenderers of 98 will receive 16 per cent, of the above in full.
The Homeward mails, via Brindisi, were delivered here to day.

The Bank of France rate of discount is 31 per cent., in consequence of the large efflux of gold.
