SETTLEMENT.
From native sources it is reported that it is the intention of the King of Burmah to demand indemnity from Great Britain for the late Mojounkonee rebellion. It is also further stated that the appearance of Burmese troops on the frontier is believed to be for the purpose of suppressing the Dacoites.
Intelligence has been received from Rangoon that a force ofßurmeie troops,
numbering 1000, has assembled on the British frontier, and is making preparations for an attack. The garrison is being strengthened in view of possible hostilities.
