During the conveyance of the prisoners to the lockup, some lairikins affected a rescue.

The Rev. Mr Chalmers and Mr Biswick Bend details of the murder of seven Chinese by the New Guinea natives. The Chinese were fishing for bSech-la-xner. The natives were dissatisfied with the pay, and the Chinese habitually molested the women. They were warned by native teachers. The natives attacked them in great numbers, stormed and captured the junk. Some of the Chinese escaped in boats.
