Thames Naval Brigade Ball.
One of the most successful balls of the season took place, at the Academy of Music last; night" under the auspices of the Naval- Brigade, to mark their anniversary. The hall was very. tastefully decorated with evergreens and flags, a star formed of sword -bayonets showing up most brilliantly. To Mr Secretary Potts great credit is due for the admirable arrangements and that attention to details which tends bo much to the success of such reunions. Bandsmen Feeney, and Seamen Short and Carter were tjie Masters of the Ceremonies, and discharged their onerous duties very satisfactorily. The Committee, consisting of Capt. \Vildman, Lieuts. Gavin, Lawless, Burton, and Gordon, P.O.'s Noonan and Jamieson, Seamen Short, Truscott, and Carter were most attentive to their guests during the evening, and allowed nothing to' intervene to make the affair a success. A great number of members from other corps were present, their scarlet uniforms and the dark blue of the Navals, together with the varied, pleasing, and graceful dresses of the ladies combined to make the assemblage a most attractive and a brilliant one. Before the dancing commenced the band of the Brigade performed a number of selections, while the string band of Mr Christensen in its usual admirable manner played for the dancers. The refreshment department was well managed by Mrs Quint—in fact, too much can not be Raid of the admirable manner in which every requirement of the dancers was attended to by this lady and her assistants, and altogether a most pleasant and enjoyable evening was spent.
