MINT.

Yesterday the driving contractors intersected the Comet lode in the Middle Star tunnel. It is a healthy-looking body of stone about eighteen inches thick, and contains good mineral indications; though no gold has yet been seen. It is probable that the directors will employ the contractors to drive ahead to intersect the Port Waikato reef before mining operations are started on any of the lodes cut. I think this is the wisest plan to pursue, as the company will then be able to select the most promising looking of the lodei cut in the tunnel, and commence operations on it.
