DUNEDIN.
This day. A boy ten years of age, son of Mr Ren ton, formerly of Otakaia was drowned while sculling a boat in the laieri river night.
At Palmers ton to-day, two Chinamen were fined £25, or three months' imprisonment each for taking trout out of Shag river with sluice forks. It was stated that some miles of the river was completely stripped in this way by the Chinese.
