RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT
THIS DAY.
(Before H. Kenriek, Esq., E.M.) VAGBANT ACT. Catherine Gleeson was charged wuh using abusire and insulting langaage, calculated to cause a breach of the peace. Mr Brassey appeared for the defendant, and pleaded not guilty. He also, asked that she be excused from appearing in Court, as she was ill in bed. Consiable Haslett deposed that on I Sunday night at about 12 o'clock he heard the accused use Terjr insulting language to John Hawkins and attempt to strike him with an umbrella. The accused was drunk at the time. Fined 20s and costs. ANOTHEB CASE. John Hawkins was also charged, but Mr Kenny asked to withdraw the charge, as the man on the occasion was only trying to get Mrs Gleeson to go to her boose in the Waiotahi. Case withdrawn.
