AUCKLAND.
. This day. "Happy Hours" Hart in Trouble, Edward Hart, better known as the leading member of Hart's operetta Com pany, was charged at the Police Court this morning with a violent assault upon a young man named Russell by knocking him down with a bottle full of spirits; The evidence showed that defendant on the previous night was engaged in beating his wife, and that she ran out of the room and fell into the arms of Haygarth, An altercation ensued between the landlord of the hotel and Hart, when the latter showing fight plaintiff came for ward to protect the boniface, when he received a violent blow from a bottle of sherry which Hart bad. Hart was under the influence of liquor. He denied beating his wife, but said he, was administering chastisement -to his daughter. Haygarth insulted his wife, and Russell was drunk and insolent. The Magistrate sentenced Hart to a month's imprisonment. , • !
