CALEDONIAN.
The weekly report of the manager was as follows ;—'• The south face, No. 1 section, No. 3 level, has been driven 6 feet across the lode during the week, but has not yet reached the hanging wall. It has been passing through solid slabs of bright mineral, the quartz being but little crystallised*. It has not yet shown payable gold. Winze, No. 1 section: Blasting down the lode has been eon* tinned through the week without reaching the hanging-wall. The stone has shown a little better, lam picking and saving a few tons of it for the battery. This is a different lode from that being pierced in the face at the No. 3 level, which is to the east. Both iodes are of immense size and strength. No. 2 level, No. 2 section : The winze is down 23 feet, in good inexpensive country. The lode has been very small in sinking, but has shown a little gold on being taken down. I have commenced to drive on the lode at the No. 2 level, No. 2 section. It has taken a westward bend, and is only about 9 inches thick, but is showing gold to pay for working, the ground being good. I have about 10 tons of quartz on band, and purpose crushing next week."
