CHRISTCHURCH.

- This day. The Government and their Employees, The revised scale of wages for railway employees was circulated on Saturday. The committee held a meeting in the evening and discussed the scale for upwards of 5 hours. The subcommittee reports that they had waited on the head of the department who considered the new scale on the whole a fair one, excepting as referring to the laborers and he stated that a strike would not cause a serious inconvenience to the authorities as there was plenty of skilled labor available. During the meeting several cases of seeming injustice of the new scale were mentioned. It was ultimately resolved to defer any action till after the mass meeting to be held in Dunedin this evening.
