OLD GOLDEN CALF.
The reef i 3 at present about five feet thick, with fine solid quartz'on the footwall, the balance of the reef being _a mixture of quartz and sandstone seams. Thj^-feotwiill section is well tuiaeralisd, and shows some colors of gold. There was some doubt that there was any gold showing in the lode, the gold specks being darkened by admixture with iron pyrites, but the application of an acid tost at the Bauk showed them to be legitimate. The stream of water issuing from the hanging wail has now reduced to normal proportions, and the manager thinks it must bo from some cross lode junclioning with the hanging wall of the reef. It cannot be from old workings, this poruou of the mine being intact to surface while there are absolutely no workings on this side of the slide whatever.
