The Government are continuing to make reductions in the Customs and Land Departments, and many officials will be superannuated, including Capt. Standish, Chief Commissioner of Police.
A vessel, the name of which has not yet transpired, has been wrecked on Cape Otway, and completely broken up. A portion of the crew has been rescued, and a search is being made for other
survivors.
Adelaide, This day.
The Orient Company's steamship Sorata, which arrived yesterday from Plymouth and left during the day for Melbourne, has gone aground at Cape Jar vis, Kangaroo Island, at the entrance of the Gulf of St. Vincent.
The vessel is in a dangerous position, bat the passengers hare all been landed safely on the island. .
