Municipal Election.
The interest occasioned by the meeting called last night orer the annual elections, and the fact that a committee was appointed to nominate persons for the vacancies holding certain views upon the mining question, caused a feeling of curiosity, and stirred up a little interest among ratepayers this morning. However, as the time approached for nominations to be in, it was known that only one seat was to be contested, and so it turned out to be, for Mr Davies at noon posted the following names outside the Borough Chambers :— NORTH WARD. James McGowan, David Miller. MIDDLE WABD. J. M. Mennie. SOUTH WABD. W. J. Speight. There being no other nominations for the Middle and South Wards of course the gentlemen named will be declared elected by ths Returning Officers. For the North Ward, if Mr Miller is qualified, of which there is some question, a severe fight may be anticipated.
