NEW GOLDEN CROWN

Messrs A. and G. Price will have the water motor finished on Saturday next, and in about a fortnight from date the battery will be ready to start, everything being now ready pending the erection of the engine. Last week the battery was connected with the County main by a ten inch pipe. In the mine the manager has suspended operations on Herival's leader in the old stopes, and is driving at the intermediate level, parallel with the boundary to intersect the lode at its junction with another leader. Herival's leader, when worked by the Caledonian tributers, yielded splendid crushing stuff, and the manager is in possession of information which leads him to believe there is still some remunerative quartz in the direction he is driving. He expects to hare to drive 30 feet further ere the junction referred to is reached. Some thres. weeks ago, to avoid the present circuitous route, the manager commenced driving a new cross-cut at the battery level. This is now in about 100 feet, and the No. 1 lode has been cut, and connection established with the first operations on the lode. Where intersected the quartz has a rery healthy appearance.
