At the District ■> Court at Lawrence in the case Kegina v. O'Neill for fraudulent insolvency, Judge Harvey held that a District Court could not proceed with a private prosecution. The prisoner is to be tried at the Supreme Court circuit on the 23rd. ; - >>':.
H, J. {-ruildford, clerk to the Portobello Road Board, was arrested on a charge of embezzling £200; the funds of the Board.
An accident happened to Mr Lambert, of Messrs Lambert and Findlay, contracting builders, High street, on Saturday afternoon, which is likely to terminate fatally. He was superintending the demolition of a building in Princess street, when a nail ran into his foot, and it is said lockjaw has set in.
