Coromandel Mining.

South Kapanga Claim.—la this claim, which a few weeks ago was purchased by Mr Jt. F. Lnks as forfeited ground for £5, a discovery was made on Wednesday last which may prove of great importance to this mine, as well as to the Empress ot India claim adjoining. It appears that Mr Luks, knowing that rich gold had been obtained years ago in the then "White Swan" claim, which is, now included in the above property, started a prospecting drive about 70 feet from the White Swan shaft, and after extending the adit about 18 feet came upon a good sized lode. As soon at it was broken into, a , good dish of prospects was obtained, and blotches of heavy gold were observed in the stone. There is very little doubt that the old Kapanga leader ha* been come upon..

It in also heavily charged with minerals ' besides the precious metal, and it bearing and underlie are identical with the slid lode. Mr Luks is now following the reef towards the White Swan shaft and the Empress of India claim. This find will considerably enhance the value of the latter property, and shares, I hear, are held very firm. A considerable amount of pegging-out has taken pjacd on the line of reef towards the Union BeacU. If the lode should continue to prove payable Mr Luks has one of the finest mining properties in Coromandel.—• Herald. .
