LUCK'S ALL.

About 131bs of rich specimens were obtained from the breaking.down yesterday, and a splendid show was left in the face, the gold apparently being strongest towards the Hopeful side of the winze. The manager, writing on Monday, reports as follows to his board of directors:— I have had four men engaged for the last ten days sinking the winze «n the blue leader. We started in rery tight ground, but for the last few shifts the ground was better, and the lode has improved as we go down, and the gold has improved with it. There is good gold showing in the side of the winze, and also on the bottom. I shall be breaking down on Wednesday or Thursday, and expect to have a good show. The winze is down 23 feet from the No. 2 level, which leaves about 27 feet more to sink to the No. 3. level. I have started four men to drive in the No. 3 level in the place of the contractors. The ground changed for the better the first shift they put in! I intend to keep four men at the face till I get the leader, which is nine or ten feet further ahead. The reason I don't keep six men on is because the smoke hangs about too much. Twenty-three pounds of specimens have been put in the bank.
