i For the last few days stripping the lode has been in progress in the winze, and this morning a start was. made at breaking down.. At the time of my visitabout 11 o'clock this morning—about 10108 of exceedingly rich specimens had been selected, and Mr Jenkins expected to be breaking down till this evening. There is about twelve loads of rich crushing dirt from ' the winze to grass, which, however, will not be sent out till it can be got away by means of the winze to the next level. There is every probability that this lode will turn out to be the once celebrated Fearnaught reef from which quartz worth over 100 ounces jjer ton was obtained—indeed it is 'beginning to assume some of the minor characteristics of that lode. As the sinking proceeds the country is becoming easier and more favorable to the existence of a large deposit of golden ore.. At the. bottom level the contractors threw up their job in consequence, of the tightness of the ground, and the manager started a party of wages men. The ground has. already become more workable, and the blue, leader may be come on any day. There is nothing else of consequence to report Uf. the mine:
