The tenders which hud been received by the sub committee for the repair of the powder magazine tanks were laid before the meeting. ' The sub committee, in view.of tho letter received from the Bank of New Zealand, declined to accept any tender. It was decided to let the matter stand over for the present. A letter was received from the manager of the Bank of New Zealand declining to ! Sy any accounts except the Harbour aster and toll collector s salaries.

The members thought that if it was the intention of the.manager of the Bank of New Zealand to prohibit the Board from spending even a £5 note iti necessary repairs and doing such Work as is imperatirely required for keeping the* port open for trade ; that it *89 unnecessary to have any meetings at all, and the Harbour Master and toll collector would hare to carry on as best they could. They expressed the opinion that it was a perfect farce. for them to be called together, if they had uo powers to act..' It was resolved after considerable farther diseussiou that the Chairman and

Mr Bagnall see the bank manger, and ascertain if he intends to carry out the intimation expressed in his letter. Mr Leydon said he was informed that goods were shipped and transhipped without payment of harbour dues. Mr Osborne said he had also heard the same thing, but from inquiries he had made he was satisfied the statement was untrue.

It was resolved that the Harbor Master be requested to make enquiries as to this matter, and report on same at next meet- «»«• - ■„. ■ ■■: ;. ' . „'.. ■.. ...'...
