WELLINGTON.
This day.
A deputation consisting of members of the City Council of Hutt, tbe County Council of Makara, Highway Board and Chamber of Commerce", also a large number of influential citizens waited on the Minister of Public Works and strongly urged the Gorernment to prosecute the Wellington-Foxton railway. The minister replied that the report of Railway Commissioners would bear a certain weight, bat the question would receive the earliest consideration and a reply would be made known through the Public Works Statement which will be made in a few days.
