The Raikes Centernnary.

SERVICE OF PBAIBB. The St. Georges' Church Choir gave « service of praise and thanksgiviiig at the Academy of Music last evening in connection with the centenary celebration of the founding of Sunday sohools. There was a large attendance and in the absence of the Bey Joseph Bates, the Be? E. Laishley opened the proceedings with prayer. After the Te Deum LaudamV by the Choir, Mr M. H. Airey rendered the solo "David before Saul" in a manner that left little to be desired, after which the Misses Lush sang "He shall feed his flock" (Handel.) Mrs Corrigan's rendition of Haydn's ' solo "With verdure clad" was loudly ap. plauded, as also was ,an anthem which followed and in which Mr C. Brown and Miss Probert, saag the bass and treble solos. The next item was a trio by Mrs Kilcour and Misses Belcher and Probert, after which Cursehmann's solo "Oh Father, hear us," was exquisitely rendered by Mrs' Kilgour. This was followed sy a quartette, a solo by Mr Steward, and an anthem by the oboir. Miss Murrish with great taste jud feeling sang the solo " Jerusalem," .after whicl the Misses Steward, Mr Catran, and &r . Steward sand the anthem "Behold I bring." The proceedings closed with t!it anthem "I will give thanks." Mr . ■': Trewhella officiated at the harmoniaia, aud Mr Steward acted as condtctor. - "
