The Greek Gorernment hare sent to the Great Powers a reply to their collectire note embodying the decisions of the Berlin Conference in regard to the Turco-Greek dispute. The reply intimates the acceptance by the Greek Gorernment of the decision of the Conference as to the territory to he ceded to Greece for the rectification of her frontier. . .'■•>- CONSTANTINOPLE, July 17. Several, Germans ha?e recently been appointed by the Forte to high*posts in the Turkish Foreign, Finance, and War Departments. .-■ ■ London, July 17. The cricket match which was commenced on Thursday between the Australians and 18 of the Wernett Club at Oldham in Lancashire, was concluded to day, and resulted in another rictory for the Australians in one innings with 21 runs to spare. The Australians in first innings scored 119 runs, Mcitonell being highest scorer with 53 runs for which he was bowled out..Wernett Club in their Ist innings scored only 38 runs, and being 81 behind their opponents, they had to follow, and in their second innings they were all disposed of for 60
and Australians thus won the match as stated in their first innings. In the Wernett team's two innings Spofforth took eleven wickets. The wicket was, very dead. The attendance of the public at th,e match each day was very large. The Australians have now played 18 matches, 13 of which they have won and the balance being drawn mostly in their favor. A meeting was held to-day at which niauy members of the House of Commons expressed themselves as being opposed to the bill for granting compensation to Irish tenants which has been introduced by the Government. At last quotation Australian tallow was firm. * Calcptta, July 16. ■ News has been received from Afghanistan that A bdul Eahman, who was offered the Ameership, has crossed Hindoo Koosh, and is now believed to be on his way to Cabul. London, July 17. { The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 18,150,000 quarters. The American wheat harvest prospects are favourable. The House of Commons has adopted an amendment on the Irish Bill introduced by Mr Gladstone, Premier, for the pur* pose of granting compensation to Irish tenants, which .will hare the effect of not relieving landlords from compensation if they refuse the terms offered by tenants without offering some reasonable alternative. The House also agreed to a motion against the proposed statue to Prince Napoleon in Westminster Abbey. Mr Gladstone opposed it. ■_ King Geobge's Sound, Saturday. The P. and O. Company's steamer Siam has been floated and sailed on Thursday last. DESERTION OF NATIVE FORCE AT CANDAHAR.—BRITISH PURSUE AND ROUT THEM. \ Calcutta, July 16. The native infantry under Candahar deserted near GKrishte.
