KUMARA.
This day.
An inquest on the body^of John Phelan commenced this morning at 10 o'clock, and terminated at noon, when the follow*! ing verdict 'was returned:—" That deceased Jno. Phelan was suffocated by the falling, earth in the sludge channel, and that the accident was caused by the giving away of a false, set of timber in the face of drive," to vthich the Jury added the following rider: "We are of opinion that short sets are useless, and we recomv mend the use of intermediate long sets at I every third set, and that sets should go across the drives, and also that the legs be twelve inches by eight inches."
