It is intended to send another batch of twenty-five 1 of the unemployed to Patea in a week, and fifty more three weeks hence. A fire.was discovered last night in Whitebead's stable, but it was extinguished before much damage was done. It was insured in the* Union Company for £100. Ernest Gilchrist, aged 19 months, was accidentally drowned in a pond at Otaki yesterday. Arrived: Merope, barque, from London. Fatal Fire. Mr Stevenson's hotel at Eenwiok, a town seven miles from Blenheim, was destroyed by fire last night. One man, name at present unknown, was burnt to death.
