The manager is at present carr iisg on his operation on the No. 3 reef under great disadvantages, butj the quality of stone is improving, aud yesterday about 201bs of very good stone was broken from the-' small leader. The reef has been stripped for over 20 feet from whera it was first broken down, and shows an improved quality of stone. As it will be a week yet before the Caledonian shaft will be fit for worir, Mr Walcer has decided to suspend oparalions on the No. 3 reef, and in the meantime is making preparations for a spredy despatch of the accumulated mullock and stone at present in the workings. A telegram was sent to the directors in Auckland to day stating that gold was found in qaartz broken from the large reef.
