This day. An excellent opportunity last n'ght of observing the eclipse of the moon.

At a public meeting at Pahautanui the following resolutions were carried :—l. The time has now arrived for alt native lands to be placed on the same footing as that belonging to Europeans as regards general and locel taxation. 3. That the honorarium paid to members of the Legislative Council should be done away with. The honora'ium to members of the House of Representatives lo be reduced to one half. 4. That the Civil Service of the colony be reorganised to meet the present financial position.
