Last night.
There was an extraordinary scene in the Supreme Court to day, when John Boyd, alias Hutton, committed on a charge of obstructing the railway, pleaded guilty, and when asked if he had anything to say he launched out into most horrible profanity and filthy language, swearing at Judge Richmond, the gaoler, and the police. The Judge remarked that the man must be mad, whereupon the prisoner, with strong oaths, declared Hit Honor was mad. He was sentenced to 15 years' penal servitude. This day. The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court commenced yesterday before Judge Richmond. Arthur Barnsley, for forgery, was remanded for sentence. John Boyd, for obstructing a railway, train, IS years. Pattu (native), for horse stealing, two years. Herika (a native, the baking doctor), for attempting fco do grievous bodily harm one month. His Honor remarked that he did not think the prisoner had acted with a wrong intention. Lateb. This day Arthur Barnsley for forgery, was sentenced to 4 years penal servitude. George Hewsdn, for rape on a girl 8 years of age was sentenced to 2 years and 25 lashes.
